Dr. Chechelnitsky is well versed in U.S. and European energy markets with 13 years of hands-on experience. He has experience in generation asset management and optimization, commodity risk management, and fundamental market analysis. Dr. Chechelnitsky has led front and mid-office functions managing physical and financial assets for major merchant energy companies. Industry positions include Head of Pricing and Structuring at Edison Mission Marketing and Trading from 2007 to 2009, and Vice-President for Quantitative Analysis at FirstLight Power Resources. Dr. Chechelnitsky has led reviews and development of commercial strategies and risk management functions for merchant, regulated, and state-owned energy and agricultural commodity players in the U.S. and abroad as a Principal at Charles River Associates (CRA International) from 2005 to 2007. Dr. Chechelnitsky has extensive valuation experience in the context of commercial litigation and has testified at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. From 1999 to 2001 Dr. Chechelnitsky worked at Shell International Exploration and Production in The Hague, The Netherlands developing the global business plan for Shell Board of Directors as well as doing investment analysis for major worldwide oil and gas developments in Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Venezuela and in the Middle East. In addition, while at Shell, Dr. Chechelnitsky worked as a drilling engineer developing new techniques for advanced pressure control in high-pressure high-temperature wells. Dr. Chechelnitsky received his PhD in Physical Oceanography from MIT-Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Joint Program where he was a NASA Global Climate Change Fellow.
